Precision-machined for every drive
Every sheave ships to a documented material, groove profile, bore and balance specification. The list opposite covers the typical envelope; custom OD, groove count and coatings are quoted to your drawing.
Material
Cast iron GG25/GG30, ductile iron GGG50, steel C45, aluminum 6061-T6
Grey iron delivers vibration damping and cost-effective performance for standard drives; ductile iron and forged steel are used for high-speed and high-torque duty; aluminum for lightweight, high-speed spindles.
Belt sections
Classical: A, B, C, D, E · Wedge: SPZ, SPA, SPB, SPC · Narrow: 3V, 5V, 8V
Groove profiles are CNC-machined to ISO 4183 / RMA IP-22 tolerances, ensuring optimal belt engagement and even load distribution across all grooves.
Diameter range
50 mm to 2,500 mm (2" to 98")
Small OD sheaves are turned from bar stock or castings; large diameters over 800 mm are cast, stress-relieved, then finish-machined on vertical turning centres.
Bore configuration
Pilot bore, finished bore, taper lock bushing, QD bushing, or keyway
Taper lock and QD bushings simplify installation, removal and shaft re-sizing without re-machining the sheave — the standard specification for maintenance-friendly drives.
Number of grooves
1 to 12 grooves per pulley
Multi-groove sheaves transmit higher torque without increasing OD, keeping belt speed and pulley inertia under control on high-power drives.
Balancing
Static balance standard; dynamic balance G6.3 or G2.5
Dynamic balance to ISO 1940 G6.3 is recommended above 1,800 rpm; G2.5 is available for precision spindles, high-speed fans and turbomachinery drives.
Surface treatment
Phosphated, painted, or zinc plated
Finish is selected to match the operating environment — indoor, outdoor, washdown, chemical or marine — and to bond with any downstream customer coating.
Max belt speed
Up to 42 m/s (cast iron) · up to 60 m/s (machined steel)
Rated peripheral speeds are conservative and include a safety factor for continuous industrial duty; higher speeds are available on request with certified material and full balance reports.
