Precision-ground for reliable shaft grip
Every taper bushing ships to a documented material, size, bore and keyway specification. Non-standard bores, oversized hubs and stainless variants are quoted to your drawing.
Material
C45 carbon steel (standard), 40Cr alloy steel, 304 stainless steel, 316 stainless steel
C45 covers the vast majority of industrial mounting duties; 40Cr is chosen where higher screw torque is required; 304 and 316 stainless serve food, pharma, marine and chemical washdown environments.
Bushing types
Taper Lock (1008 – 5050), QD Quick Disconnect (JA – S), Double Split Taper
Taper Lock is the global standard for pulley, sprocket and coupling mounting; QD offers reversible flange positioning; Double Split allows radial installation on trapped shafts.
Bore range
9 mm to 125 mm (0.375" to 5.000") depending on bushing size
Bores are machined in both metric and imperial standards with matching keyways to ANSI B17.1 or DIN 6885; interference and clearance grades are held to industry tolerances.
Taper ratio
1:8 for taper lock bushings; proprietary taper for QD series
The 1:8 taper (7.125°) is self-releasing — jacking screws pop the bushing off the shaft without a puller — while still generating sufficient radial pressure to prevent slip.
Fastener grade
Grade 12.9 socket head cap screws standard; Grade 8.8 available
Grade 12.9 screws are torqued to the values published in the bushing catalog; anti-seize is applied to threads to ensure consistent clamping load through the fastener.
Surface finish
Phosphate and oil (standard); zinc plated, black oxide, or passivated (stainless)
Phosphate provides mild corrosion resistance and helps break in the taper contact surfaces during first installation; zinc plating is added for outdoor and humid environments.
Keyway
Imperial keyway (ANSI B17.1) or metric keyway (DIN 6885) per specification
Keyway dimensions are held to the applicable standard so shaft, key and bushing keyseat all interchange with any compliant OEM component.
Weld-on hub material
C45 steel with precision-bored internal taper or finished bore
Weld-on hubs are supplied stress-relieved after machining to prevent distortion during customer welding; a machining allowance on the OD is available on request.
