Motor Bases

Motor Base Specifications

Materials, frame compatibility, adjustment range and finish options for MACHINING Force adjustable industrial motor bases.

Technical envelope

Engineered for every drive class

Every motor base ships to a documented material, dimensional and finish standard. The table opposite lists the typical envelope; custom sizes, hole patterns and coatings are quoted to your drawing.

Material

Cast iron ASTM A48 Class 30/35 or fabricated steel ASTM A36

Grey iron castings deliver vibration damping and long-term dimensional stability; ASTM A36 welded steel is used for large-frame and heavy cyclic-load bases.

NEMA compatibility

Frames 48, 56, 143T through 449T

Standard hole patterns for the full NEMA T-frame range. IEC frames 63 – 355 supplied on request.

Mounting type

Fixed, sliding/adjustable, hinged/pivoting, or conversion

Choose fixed for direct-coupled drives, sliding for V-belt tensioning, hinged for gravity self-tensioning, or conversion for cross-frame motor upgrades.

Adjustment range

1.5" to 12" (38 mm to 305 mm) center distance

Fine-thread jackscrews deliver repeatable, incremental belt tensioning without disturbing motor alignment.

Surface finish

Shot blasted + primer (cast) · painted or mill finish (steel)

Substrate is cleaned to SSPC-SP6 before priming so shop and field topcoats bond reliably in wet or corrosive environments.

Fastener grade

Grade 8.8 / Grade 5 tensioning bolts with locking nuts

High-tensile hardware with locking nuts prevents belt-tension loss from vibration on high-cycle industrial drives.

Max load capacity

Up to 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg) depending on size

Rated for continuous motor and belt-pull loads. Larger custom bases are engineered to project drawings.

Corrosion protection

Epoxy paint, hot-dip galvanized, or stainless steel

Selectable per operating environment — indoor, washdown, marine, food & beverage, or outdoor exposed installations.
