Technical envelope

ANSI B29.1 compliant, precision-cut

Every sprocket ships to a documented material, chain standard, bore and hardening specification. Custom tooth counts, oversize plates and non-standard bores are quoted to your drawing.

Material

C45 carbon steel, 40Cr alloy steel, 304/316 stainless steel, ductile iron GGG50

Carbon steel suits most industrial drives; alloy steel is chosen for heavy shock or long service intervals; stainless is used in food, pharma, marine and chemical washdown environments; ductile iron for large-diameter platewheels where machinability matters.

Chain standards

ANSI: 25, 35, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160 · ISO: 06B – 32B

Tooth pitch, roller diameter and tooth gap are cut to the applicable ANSI B29.1 or ISO 606 pitch — ensuring interchangeability with any standard roller chain from any reputable manufacturer.

Tooth count

6 to 120 teeth depending on chain pitch and sprocket diameter

Smaller tooth counts (below 17) increase chordal action and chain vibration; MACHINING Force recommends a minimum of 17 teeth for continuous-duty drives above 500 rpm.

Bore configuration

Pilot bore, finished bore with keyway, taper lock bushing, or QD bushing

Taper lock and QD bushings simplify installation and shaft-size flexibility without re-machining the sprocket — the preferred specification for maintenance-friendly conveyor and process drives.

Hardening

Induction hardened teeth to HRC 45-55; through-hardened option available

Induction hardening applies a controlled hardness depth of 2-4 mm on tooth contact surfaces, tripling wear life while keeping the hub tough and machinable for keyways and set screws.

Tooth profile

ANSI B29.1 Type II hob-cut standard; Type III precision-cut for high speed

Type II is standard for the vast majority of industrial drives; Type III's fully-formed tooth flank is used above 1,200 rpm or in noise-sensitive positioning drives to reduce mesh impact.

Surface treatment

Black oxide, zinc plated, phosphated, or passivated (stainless)

Finish is selected for the operating environment — dry indoor, humid outdoor, washdown, chemical or marine — and to bond with any downstream customer coating.

Sprocket types

Simplex (A-plate), duplex, triplex, platewheel, idler with bearing, QTL bushed

Duplex and triplex sprockets deliver 2× and 3× the torque capacity of simplex in the same diameter, keeping chain pull under the acceptable roller and pin fatigue limit.
