Ductile Iron Bar Grades
Continuous cast ductile iron bar — ASTM A536 65-45-12, 80-55-06, 100-70-03, 60-40-18 and SSDI — a cost-saving free-machining alternative to low- and medium-carbon steel.

Ductile iron bar is a cost-saving alternative to low- and medium-carbon steels — similar strength with excellent free-machining behaviour.
The nodular graphite delivers the same free-machining benefit as lead, without the machining hazards or waste-disposal problems. Grades 65-45-12, 80-55-06, 100-70-03 and 60-40-18 conform to ASTM A536; the primary difference from sand-cast equivalents is the high nodule count and fine grain size inherent to the continuous casting process.
SSDI (solution-strengthened ductile iron) is similar to ISO 1083/JS/500-10. Individual grades are produced by controlling the matrix structure — ferrite, pearlite or a controlled mix — around the graphite nodules.
Ductile iron grades & mechanical properties

| ISO 1083 / JS / 450-10 | ≥ 65 ksi (450 MPa) | ≥ 45 ksi (310 MPa) | 12 % | HB 156–217 | Ferrite + minor pearlite |
| ISO 1083 / JS / 550-05 | ≥ 80 ksi (550 MPa) | ≥ 55 ksi (380 MPa) | 6 % | HB 187–255 | Ferrite + pearlite |
| ISO 1083 / JS / 700-02 | ≥ 100 ksi (700 MPa) | ≥ 70 ksi (485 MPa) | 3 % | HB 217–269 | Pearlite |
| ISO 1083 / JS / 400-18 | ≥ 60 ksi (415 MPa) | ≥ 40 ksi (275 MPa) | 18 % | HB 143–187 | Ferrite |
| ISO 1083 / JS / 500-10 | ≥ 72 ksi (500 MPa) | ≥ 51 ksi (350 MPa) | 10 % | HB 170–230 | Solution-strengthened ferrite |
Mechanical properties are measured on samples taken at 1/4 diameter (round) or 1/4 diagonal (square / rectangle). Custom grades available on request.
